Strawberry 'Short-fate'

Look at this!! I actually grew 'a' strawberry (you may remember the 'a' broccoli from the fall - what is with my very small garden?!?). I went out to water my hopefully substantial garden tonight & found this beautiful berry. When Tim & I bought our house 3 years ago, I planted two strawberry plants...they have never produced fruit until this year. I plucked this delectable specimen from it's bush tonight, brought it inside, sang it praises, and then ate it (after the photo shoot). Isn't it perfect?! There are a few more promising berries growing on the plant - stay tuned for more strawberry goodness!!

Pretty little berry
...it was delish!

And...coming soon - post #100!! Be watching for your chance to win prizes! Happy Thursday (or if you're Andrea, Happy 30th Birthday!!).

How very cute! I've never had good luck with berries although I really want to grow raspberries which will take a lot of work here in the desert. I hope you get many more berries!

Ahhh, to have a backyard full of berries ... I would be a very happy girl ;).

I hope this is the first sign of many more little delights to come from your garden ;).

(Maybe the gnomes are eating them?)

mmmm...I miss Oregon berries! I'm craving a fresh grown strawberry right now! I remember growing up, my mom had strawberries in her garden, the birds loved them, so watch out for those birds! Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
